What Does It Cost To Enter the Teen Program?
The Miss New Hampshire Program is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization. We are imposing a $100.00 seat deposit to protect against someone who enters and then fails to appear. As long as the contestant appears, the $100.00 will be refunded on the day of the final competition.
The event will be held February 15-17, 2008 at Pinkerton Academy's 891-seat state-of-the art Stockbridge Theatre in Derry, New Hampshire. Depending upon the number of applicants, it may be necessary to conduct a preliminary competition Friday and Saturday, February 15th and 16th, with the final competition on Sunday, February 17, 2008. Historically we have enough contestants to require the preliminary competitions.
We discourage students from spending any money to compete in our program. Former Miss New Hampshire titleholders stand ready to assist our Teen contestants and our winner in anyway they can!
What happens if I win!
If you are selected as New Hampshire's Outstanding Teen 2008, you will represent the Granite State at the national finals sponsored by the Miss America's sister organization, Miss America's Outstanding Teen Program. The 2007 annual Miss America's Outstanding Teen Competition was held the week of August 7-11th in Orlando, Florida, with the Teen checking in on August 2, 2007. The national finals awarded more than $150,000 in scholarship grants. The Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program will pay the $1000 national entry fee and the cost of two airline tickets to the national event; one for Miss New Hampshire's Outstanding Teen and one for her state traveling companion (who will likely be the winner's mother). Although not required, the Teen's family will, no doubt, want to travel to Orlando to support their daughter. This travel expense should be factored in, as the family must pay their own expenses. We will soon announce our scholarship awards for the 2008 competition.
You will also have community service opportunities and other appearance opportunities as Miss New Hampshire's Outstanding Teen. We will not, however, schedule you for any appearances that interfere with your schooling.
