HOW TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER

The Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Organization currently has approximately 200 volunteers at the local and state levels. The Organization is always looking for more volunteers. There are currently 16 Local Chapters and the Official State Preliminary Organization to Miss America is looking to expand into the Strafford County, Cheshire and Sullivan Counties and the North Country. Seeking Local Chapters for Cheshire and Sullivan Counties

The Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Organization is looking for a resident in both Cheshire and Sullivan Counties to come on board as a volunteer to launch a local chapter in each county. The Miss New Hampshire Organization stands ready to offer extensive assistance to start these two chapters. There is also available a $500.00 Miss America Startup Grant for any new local chapter for the 2008-2009 program year.

Brenda Keith explained, "We are looking for representation in every party of the Granite State, and it is a shame that we are not offering the Miss NH opportunity to these two counties." With Keene State College and Franklin Pierce, Cheshire should have a large contestant pool from which to draw. As to Sullivan County, it includes the two large towns of Newport and Claremont. "The students of Sullivan are in an economically disadvantaged area of the state and deserve the scholarships as much as our women in the Greater Manchester Area," stated Keith.

Ideally, each county would have a Miss County Program open only to those students, residents, or full-time employed from any town or city within the specific county. But the Miss New Hampshire Organization is open to a creative plan to include the western most counties. Current volunteers are encouraged to recruit friends, relatives, or associates who reside in these counties to apply for the position.
